Webinar recording: Building Momentum for a National School Food Program!

This webinar introduced the Coalition for Healthy School Food and invited participants to get involved in the #NourishKidsNow campaign and reach out to their federal candidates.


The Coalition for Healthy School Food is seeking an investment by the federal government in a cost-shared Universal School Food Program that will enable all students in Canada to have access to healthy meals at school every day.



Members of the Coalition who presented are:

  • Margo Riebe-Butt, Executive Director, Nourish Nova Scotia

  • Debbie Field, Coordinator, Coalition for a Healthy School Food

  • Carolyn Webb, Coordinator, Sustain Ontario's Edible Education Network

  • Samantha Gambling, Project Coordinator, BC Chapter of the Coalition for Healthy School Food


Over the course of this webinar they shared :

  • The benefits of school food programs

  • What the Coalition is trying to achieve through federal advocacy

  • What principles are important to include in a national school food program

  • Details of how school communities can apply to the Local Food Infrastructure Fund from AAFC, due Nov 1st

  • How individuals and groups can communicate the importance of school food programs to their federal candidates

  • How everyone can get involved in the Coalition
